According to a requirement of the Affordable Care Act, providers who accept Healthy Kids Dental, Healthy Michigan Plan, MIChild or MI Health Link patients must enroll in the Michigan Community Health Automated Medicaid Processing System (CHAMPS).
Each provider who submits claims to Delta Dental for these programs should enroll in CHAMPS by January 1, 2018. Enroll early! The enrollment approval process can take up to 30 days or longer.
Beginning March 1, 2018, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will not allow Delta Dental to pay claims for Healthy Kids Dental, Healthy Michigan Plan, MIChild or MI Health Link providers who have not signed up for CHAMPS.
How to get started
Go to MILogintp.michigan.gov, and sign up for an account if you don’t already have one. You will access CHAMPS through the MILogin site.
Here are some of the items you will need to enroll in CHAMPS:
Enrolling in CHAMPS does not mean that you must take fee-for-service Medicaid patients. There is a question in the enrollment application that asks if you are accepting Medicaid patients. You can answer “no” to this without it affecting your enrollment.
Once your CHAMPS enrollment is verified, you’ll receive a welcome letter. You also may log in to CHAMPS, go to “My Inbox” and then “Provider Verification” to check your enrollment status.

An important message from MDHHS:
Due to year-end maintenance and system upgrades, CHAMPS Provider Enrollment screens will be view-only from 6 p.m. December 22 to 4 p.m. December 28. During this time, providers will not be able to enroll or make enrollment modifications. Then, the entire CHAMPS system will be unavailable from 4 p.m. December 28 through midnight January 2.
