As educators, one of the biggest issues we face in our classrooms is the increase in
academic misconduct. In their recent blog, Taking a Proactive and Positive Approach with
Students about Academic Dishonesty, Jessica Bernards and Wendy Fresh of Portland
Community College discuss specific strategies to be proactive with students about academic
integrity. Introducing the topic at the beginning of the term made an immediate impact on
their classes; see what it can do for yours.

“I have used Pearson's math program since it began as MathXL, and am proud to have been
one of the original pioneers of it being implanted at the collegiate level. In fact, I
still have my original racoon skin caps from symposiums, meetings, and conferences. I used
MyLab in the classroom before online programs were a hot ticket item and have seen it
evolve into the wonder it is today, even as it continues to evolve with the changing face
of higher education.”

“This program is user friendly and provides students with videos and other interactive
tools when the professor is just not available. Using MyLab, I can choose to give students
unlimited attempts on assignments, and I can edit homework, quizzes, and tests and share
items from other textbooks. Learning Catalytics adds a new dimension to my teaching, and
the capability to integrate with LMS systems and provide affordable, first-day access for
students make the program invaluable. Features such as tagging and inactivity alerts let
me privately notify students if their work needs attention. I've tried other programs, but
I came back to the one that was TOPS for me.”
