Delta Dental of Michigan, the sole Healthy Kids Dental (HKD) benefits administrator for the past 18 years, will continue to provide those benefits under a new state contract.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) sent the HKD contract to bid last summer with the intention of selecting two program administrators. Delta Dental retained our contract and will continue to administer HKD benefits.
All current enrollees, whose benefits are being administered by Delta Dental, will be informed by MDHHS that, effective October 1, 2018, they will have a choice between Delta Dental and the other program administrator—Blue Cross Blue Shield. Enrollees will have a 90-day window to change administrators if they wish. If no action is taken, the enrollee will remain with Delta Dental.
Please know that Delta Dental’s HKD fee schedule and covered benefits will not change, and we will continue to provide the prompt payment for HKD claims that you are accustomed to as a participating provider.
All HKD providers must also remember to enroll in the Michigan Community Health Automated Medicaid Processing System (CHAMPS). Once the State imposes an enrollment deadline, MDHHS will not allow Delta Dental to pay claims administered for HKD if the treating dentist is not enrolled in CHAMPS by that date.
