Apostolate comes from the word "apostle" meaning, "one who is sent." It means mission!

In a particular way, lay people have a mission to the world: it's where we live, work, study, play, and thrive. The laity is the part of the Body of Christ best positioned and able to be credible witnesses to those outside or on the fringes of the Church's life.

Apostolates can look like:

  • Interceding for a friend or family member
  • Listening attentively to a coworker and asking questions to get to know them better
  • Showing someone how to pray with Scripture
  • Going grocery shopping for an elderly neighbor and spending time with them
  • Inviting neighbors into a small group to discuss Scripture and pray together
  • Asking about someone's beliefs and experiences of faith and being genuinely curious about them
  • Listening attentively to a coworker and asking questions to get to know them better
  • Saying hi to people at the gym, coffee shop, church to make new connections
  • Doing your work and chores well as an offering and witness to God
  • And infinitely more!
