Did you know ATEX requires facilities that handle combustible dust to have completed an Explosion
Protection Document (EPD)?
Required in ATEX directive 1999/92/EC article 8, EPDs contain the findings of risk assessments of any
work activity involving flammable or combustible atmospheres. If your manufacturing facilities are
based in the EU, or if you sell equipment intended to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres in the
bloc, you must carry out assessments to establish the risks and separate out your workplace using ATEX
zones to control or eliminate risks.
