Global LNG supply is expanding rapidly over the 2018-2021 period, while FIDs on new projects points to another material ‘wave’ of volumes in the mid-2020s. The power sector, both in established gas demand regions such as Europe and East Asia and in new and rapidly expanding geographies such as South and Southeast Asia and the Middle East, is the lynchpin end-user of this additional supply.
Electrification of energy supply will be a key future industry trend. And gas replacing more polluting generating fuels such as coal and fuel oil can make a substantial contribution to reducing carbon footprints on a global basis.
