Skip Maner

General Partner, NewSpring

Skip Maner is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in entrepreneurial ventures, private equity investing, and fund management.  Skip is the founding partner of the Firm’s dedicated buyout strategy, NewSpring Holdings. Before joining NewSpring in 2013, he significantly contributed to the success and eventual acquisition of notable companies such as WebLogic, Procurian, SkyBitz, and ICCNexergy, showcasing his adeptness across various industry segments and stages of company growth. He also held significant roles at Inverness Graham Investments as COO and Managing Principal, and earlier, at Internet Capital Group and TL Ventures and Safeguard Scientifics, where he honed his skills in lead investing, portfolio company management, and transaction negotiations. Maner, who has founded and sold two companies, holds a BA from the University of Richmond and an MBA from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Daniel Salvato

Principal, NewSpring

Daniel Salvato is a Principal with NewSpring's buyout strategy, NewSpring Holdings, focused on evaluating new investment opportunities and supporting long-term value creation through operational and financial oversight. With over a decade of experience in private equity, investment banking, and executive operations, including board governance and business strategy, Daniel brings a wealth of knowledge to his current position. Before NewSpring, he made significant contributions at KCK Group as a Principal, leading the sourcing, due diligence, and execution of financial services investments, and notably served as CEO of Above Lending, a high-tech consumer lending company within the KCK portfolio. Daniel's background also includes tenure as an investment professional at J.C. Flowers & Co. and as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, underpinning his solid foundation in finance, complemented by an A.B. cum laude in Economics and a Certificate in Finance from Princeton University.

Mike McLelland

Director, Alternative Investments, Clearstead

Mike joined Clearstead in February 2021 in the Research Department and became a shareholder of the firm in 2024. As a Director of Alternative Investments, Mike is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and monitoring alternative strategies, including hedge funds, real assets, private equity, and private credit. He conducts manager reviews, analyzes fund statistics, and forms investment recommendations that are integral parts of the due diligence process. Prior to joining Clearstead, Mike was an investment advisor with PNC Institutional Asset Management. Mike earned a B.S.B.A degree in Finance from The Ohio State University. Mike is CFA Charterholder and an active member of the CFA Society of Cleveland.
