Join us for a dynamic 2-day seminar, jointly organized by Audio Precision and GRAS, dedicated to advancing your knowledge in the field of electroacoustic testing. Taking place in four European cities during September 2023 - Huntingdon (UK), Graz (Austria), Oelde (Germany), and Glostrup (Denmark) - this seminar promises an immersive learning experience.

Delving into a wide range of topics related to electroacoustic testing, our workshop places a strong emphasis on hands-on exercises. Led by expert instructors, the seminar combines informative lectures with interactive demonstrations of cutting-edge measurement software and test equipment. Divided into theory and practical modules, participants will explore essential concepts, including measurement microphone basics, considerations when acquiring an audio analyser, software operation for audio and electroacoustic tests, and fundamentals of testing headphones, loudspeaker drivers, and microphones.

In the practical part of the seminar, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in four DEMO sessions. Here, they will gain invaluable insights into the complete process of performing electroacoustic measurements, from setting up the analyser and cabling to obtaining accurate and conclusive test results.

Our workshop caters to individuals with varying levels of experience. Whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned professional, you'll find immense value in the seminar's content. Our aim is to ensure that all participants can grasp and effectively execute electroacoustic measurements on multiple devices, using the exceptional AP and GRAS equipment.

Please note that each participant is required to bring their own computer with APx500 v8 installed. Don't worry about acquiring a software license - we will utilize the demo mode for the practical exercises, making it accessible to all.

  • Measurement Microphone Theory: How do they work, different microphone and preamplifier technologies, differences between pressure, free-field and diffuse-field microphones, power modules to drive microphones and preamplifiers, etc.
  • LUNCH
  • 1st DEMO: Loudspeaker Driver Test. Demonstration of APx 500´s Loudspeaker Production Test measurement module. Impedance/Thiele-small parameters, Rub & Buzz, Waterfall plots.
  • 2nd DEMO: GRAS AL0030 Acoustic Test Box using a small DUT with built-in microphones and loudspeakers. Demonstration of Open Loop and Closed loop test. Differences between Loudspeaker Production Test vs Acoustic Response measurement module. DUT performance test.

DAY 2

  • Summary of Day 1
  • Headphone Test Theory:  Basic parameters to measure, Test Fixtures, Test Setups for different types of headphones, Wired and Wireless Headphones, Headsets Test
  • 3rd DEMO: Headphone and Headset testing using a GRAS 45CC test fixture and AP´s hardware and software.
  • LUNCH
  • Microphone Testing: Basic parameters to measure, test setup, APx PDM and PDM16 modules, APx DSIO (Digital Serial Input/Output), APx Multi-input capabilities, etc.
  • 4th DEMO: MEMS microphone testing
