Your voice for healthier minds across the lifespan for all Coloradans

October 2023

This past Saturday—for the first time since 2019—we gathered in-person to celebrate at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts with local heroes, allies, and community partners for happy hour, dinner, and an extra special program featuring an awards ceremony and breath-taking performances by local artists. Thank you endlessly to Fashion Designer & Partner in Advocacy, Jennifer Burback, for ushering in the 40th Annual Tribute Fundraising Gala’s artistic spirit with her captivating showcase of original designs and subsequent spotlight speech presentation. We are so grateful to Director Ben Needham-Wood and the Boulder Ballet for closing out our program with a show-stopping production of choreography and dance.

As we celebrate 40 years of Tribute here in our 70th year of advocacy, Mental Health Colorado persists wholly committed to this mission of promoting healthier minds across the lifespan. We are grateful for the people and organizations that, peace by piece, contribute to Coloradans’ well-being, individually and collectively.

'Solitary Confinement Reform Challenges Spotlight Mental Health Care Need'

“... An investment in affordable and supportive housing is also an investment in mental health. With fewer people in crisis, facilities will be more capable of meeting the needs of those who do find themselves in extreme circumstances and counties can begin to wean themselves of their reliance upon jails to function as mental health concentration centers.”

Denver Health: Community Advisory Panel

Denver Health’s outpatient mental health teams are in the process of becoming Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics. As part of this initiative, they are forming a community advisory panel of consumers, persons in recovery, and family members to provide meaningful input, strengthen quality and safety of care, improve access to care, as well as to increase patient and family satisfaction. The goal is >50% composition of people with lived experience or family members.

If you are interested in sharing your thoughts on community needs, including gaps in mental health care in the Denver-metro area, please apply with chris.sheldon@dhha.org.
