Summit Daily:
Experts Say Colorado’s Mental Health Care System Is ‘Failing’

July 14, 2023 - By Ryan Spencer

Advocacy and Volunteer Opportunities

Federal Rule on Parity: The Department of Labor has issued a proposed rule on implementing the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA). This rule would provide further guidance on how health plans must comply with standards for showing why their mental health coverage differs from other coverage.

Join the Behavioral Health Entity Implementation & Advisory Committee! The application is now available. This committee meets every other month on the second Thursday.

The Disaster Behavioral Health Capacity Building Program is now open for applications, thanks to the Disaster Behavioral Health team within the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response (OEPR) at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment! The Disaster Behavioral Health Capacity Building Program offers awards of up to $27,500 to organizations that provide community-based behavioral health services and programs in order to support activities that prepare them, their staff, and their communities for disasters. The program has three Focuses, and an organization may apply for any or all of them depending on their eligibility.

Volunteers Needed! Colorado Breastival: Hosted by the non-profit Colorado Breastfeeding Coalition, the Breastival is a unique event in Denver that brings together communities, support systems, resources, food, and fun for the whole family. Join us on Saturday, August 5 from 10 AM – 2 PM at Denver’s Central Park (8801 Martin Luther King Blvd, Denver, CO 80238).
