Automotive Audio Testing – Amplifiers Application Note
Most modern automotive audio amplifiers are class A/B or D, due to a desire to keep power consumption to a minimum while still maintaining high power output and an acceptable (low) distortion level. Auto manufacturers do not publish their proprietary test methods used for evaluating amplifier performance, but the kinds of measurements that one would want to make on automotive audio amplifiers are readily identifiable. In this paper we discuss the typical measurements made and identify specific areas of concern related to automotive systems.
