FinTech and its Economic Value
 

Synopsis: 

Fintech is shaping the landscape of the global economy. It creates new opportunities and transforms a wide range of financial and general business services. This session offers a condensed introduction to Fintech from a macro and economic perspective. We will analyze the underlying value and economic benefits of selected Fintech applications.


About the Speaker:

Professor Kai-Lung Hui is the Academic Director of the Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA Program and the Senior Associate Dean of HKUST Business School. His research focuses on the impact of information technologies and the analysis of policies related to information technology use and development. Professor Hui's research has variously addressed topics such as the impact of law enforcement on crime deterrence on the Internet, digital divide, how piracy affected sales of legitimate items, and the impact of copyright law on the supply of creative works. His research has been published in scholarly journals including The American Economic Review: Papers and Proceedings, Information Systems Research, Management Science, MIS Quarterly, and Journal of MIS, among others.
