Museum on Main Street (MoMS) Exhibition Survey

We value your input and want to know what YOU think about this exhibition.

Help MoMS Select Our Next Exhibition!

As a MoMS humanities council partner or other state partner, we value your opinion and request your help in selecting the next exhibition for our program.

As you review the three proposals, please consider how collections of local historical organizations in your state compliment the subject matter, and what the potential for educational outreach and related humanities programming in the host communities would be.

All of the responses will be tallied and factored into the final decision that will be made by SITES and the MoMS team in mid-December. Like previous MoMS exhibitions, the chosen exhibition will be about 800 square feet, free-standing, and include objects in cases, interactive components, and audio and video presentations. To learn more about other MoMS exhibitions, please visit our website, www.museumonmainstreet.org.

Please download and review all three exhibition proposals using the links below before submitting your survey response.

We are accepting responses through November 20, 2018.

American Democracy: A Great Leap of Faith

Based on a major exhibition at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, American Democracy: A Great Leap of Faith explores enduring questions that have faced our nation since the revolution: who has the right to vote, what are the freedoms and responsibilities of citizens, and whose voices will be heard. The exhibition uses rich photographs, engaging interactives and videos, and objects to show that every community plays a role in this story and to create a platform for rich discussion and local programming.

Sounds of Faith

Throughout American history, the sounds of religious life have shaped the boundaries of community. Every tradition creates its own unique blend of music, prayer, voices, and silence, which together help define the beliefs and practices shared by the members of churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, and other places of spiritual devotion. Sounds of Faith, an exhibition developed with the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, will offer opportunities to explore local religious customs and traditions.

Many Voices, One Nation

Americans are a very diverse group of people representing practically every corner of the world. Every American, regardless of cultural origin, possesses unique backgrounds and perspectives. These cultural elements contribute to developing a dynamic sense of what it means to be American. Many Voices, One Nation: Places of Negotiation, adapted from an original exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, shows how the many voices of the American people shaped the nation and its communities.
