Mayor & City Council: Please Fund Bikeways for All

We deserve a bike network for all Chicagoans, all year long!

When we build Bikeways for All – a low-stress, seamless, and equitable bike network – Chicago’s residents benefit from better health, a cleaner environment, and a stronger economy.

While Chicago’s network of advanced bikeways has grown, progress has slowed in recent years and existing lanes are often poorly maintained.

Winter weather can make these problems even worse when snow and ice accumulation on roadways and bike lanes can make riding more stressful and even unsafe.

Without dedicated funding in the city budget, we cannot build and maintain a robust network of advanced bikeways or achieve Mayor Emanuel’s Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries.

We’re calling on the mayor and Chicago City Council to create a line item in the city’s budget dedicated to funding walking and biking infrastructure that works for all Chicagoans, all year long.
