How the Recycling System Works

Collection – Recyclable materials are used by their consumer and then the waste is placed into the proper containers to either be picked up by a government entity or by a private company.

Processing – After the waste has been gathered, the collection service then delivers the materials to a processing plant. At this facility, recyclables are sorted into several subsections and then cleaned and prepared for transport to a milling or manufacturing service. Some containers may require additional processing for additional sorting and decontamination. For example, glass and plastic are often sent to glass beneficiation plants and plastics reclaimers where they are processed into mill-ready forms.

Remanufacturing – Once the materials have been transported to their corresponding recycling plant (such as a paper mill or bottle manufacturing facility), they are manufactured into new products to once again be used by the consumer.

Why Recycling is Important

Recycling is a concept that benefits us on several levels. Economic, environmental, and community benefits can be obtained from recycling. If done correctly and frequently, these types of incentives will only become more beneficial.

Economic Benefits – Recycling saves energy and also increases our economic security by relying on a domestic source of materials.

Environmental Benefits – Recycling reduces pollution by removing the need to collect new materials. It also conserves our natural resources, especially water and timber, and reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills.

Community Benefits – Recycling supports American manufacturing and creates jobs within the recycling and manufacturing industries.

Accountability

Being involved from beginning to end is important because there is never any doubt who is accountable for your investment. We approach projects from both the technical and the business side, meaning all key stakeholders will be satisfied upon completion.

Priorities

The investment must make sense. We work to identify what problems must be solved and design to exceed that expectation. Our system engineers have the experience to “fill in the blank” because we do this every day.

Efficiency

Allows your team to focus on their jobs. Core corporate functions are not disrupted. Maintains job satisfaction by not adding foreign responsibilities to their workday.
