Collaborative Management

Collaborative Management leverages a team of collection specialists to provide more efficient collection management, enabling reallocation of library staff from back-office tasks to patron service. The Collaborative Management team can fully manage collections or supplement existing staff based on need.

This service includes:

Centralized Selection and Acquisition: A team of selection experts to select the ideal titles and quantities to align the collection with community needs based on national and local data and local recommendations. Each member of the selection team has deep expertise and experience across multiple genres, subject areas and languages.

Streamlined Cataloging and Processing: A team of technical services professionals will ensure the ordered material is carefully and accurately cataloged and processed, added to the integrated library system (ILS) and on to the library shelves in the fastest possible time, at the lowest possible cost.

Integrated Weeding and Inventory: Collection inventory experts will pull and dispose of material and associated catalog records that meet the library’s weeding criteria while they inventory the collection and correct differences between catalog records and what’s on the shelf.

Comprehensive Collection Marketing: The team provides an overall evaluation of all collection marketing efforts, including merchandising, marketing, program tie-ins and other promotions, and helps develop an integrated marketing plan to enhance impact.
