Unsolicited advice for today 💡: Don't make it complicated. As the holiday season approaches, I've noticed many service-based brands diving into the world of #giveaways and contests. Despite the great, high-ticket prizes, the requests are often unclear: 👎 "Like all twelve posts during the twelve days of Christmas." 👎 "Go like this post from three years ago." 👎 "Click the link in our bio and go watch this video on YouTube." This leads to minimal entries (and oops, that can be embarrassing—for you, your partners, and your product). Plus, it might give the impression that your product or service isn't valued. Let's not forget that we're all self-centered humans looking for a quick and easy way to do something—whether that's entering a contest or finding the answer to a question. So, here's the reminder: Keep it simple. Ask your audience to do one straightforward task that will still benefit you. To figure this out, consider your goals. 🚀 Want to grow your following? ➡️ Ask people to like a post and follow your page. 💼 Want to increase conversions? ➡️ Ask them to enter via an email form (with an opt-out option). 📊 Want to boost engagement? ➡️ Ask a simple, open-ended question. 🌐 Want to increase your reach? ➡️ Ask them to tag a friend. And for prizes, think of universal appeal and be specific! People want to know if the juice is worth the squeeze. 🍋 💡 Bonus tip: "Don't make it complicated" applies to most things: 👎 Don't make your initial inquiry form 20 questions long. 👎 Don't ask a first-time website visitor to book a phone call without gathering some preliminary info first. 👎 Ask clear, concise questions without a lot of backstory that may confuse your user. PS—Yes, all of these examples are things I'm seeing in real life right now.

If you're using free resource giveaways on LinkedIn & X to generate leads for your business, don't make this mistake; it will cost you thousands of dollars in revenue: Instead of sending someone a link straight to the resource when they reply with "SEND" or whatever word, send them to a landing page with an email opt-in. Yes- I'll admit - it's slightly more resistance for them to get it, BUT, If you make the landing page attractive, explaining the specific problems, outcomes, and benefits of the resource, then there's not much resistance at all. It filters out the lower quality prospects - who wouldn't even consume your resource anyway! Ok- so why is it so important to capture their email? Simple: - Give them more free value (add them to your email newsletter) - Pitch them (on booking a call) If you don't capture their email, you're only left with 1 option: pitch them in the DMs. When they haven't even received value from you yet. And you have to spend time messaging each person (or hire someone to do that). Screw that. Wouldn't you rather write a few emails 1 time, for little cost, and have them sell for you on autopilot forever?
