Verdion’s new intermodal inland rail freight hub, iPort Rail, has become fully operational in Doncaster, UK.

The rail freight facility is situated on a 30-acre site within the iPort logistics hub.

It has a total storage capacity of 1,500TEUs, as well as reach stacker capability with a front axle load of 115t.

The new site welcomed its first train last week and is capable of accommodating the UK’s longest trains up to six times a day.

The entire iPort logistics hub is spread across an area of 337 acres. It is connected to Junction 3 of the M18 motorway via the Great Yorkshire Way, as well as the East Coast Main Line.

Pan-European logistics specialist Verdion was responsible for developing iPort Rail and is also expected to operate the site.
