Story Contracting has secured a contract valuing up to £135m from Network Rail to deliver renewal and enhancement projects in Scotland.

The contract was awarded as a part of Network Rail’s £4bn investment in the Scottish rail network between 2019-24 under Control Period 6 (CP6).

Story Contracting division Story Scotland will support Network Rail in multiple rail rehabilitation projects.

The projects include rail infrastructure replacement works, as well as station improvements. To complete the project works, Story plans to hire up to 60 graduates, trainees and apprentices across five years.

“Our contracts provide suppliers with substantial work-banks and the opportunity to be part of delivering essential improvements.”

Story Scotland director John MacArthur said: “The delivery of this contract will also be supported by our award-winning Plant Division who are one of only two suppliers in the UK to be awarded GOLD in Network Rail’s Route To Gold.”

Story Contracting has been associated with Network Rail in delivering various railway projects in Scotland. Currently, the company is working on new platforms at Edinburgh Waverley station.

Network Rail has also awarded a £190m contract to AmcoGiffen for works on the London North East route.
