TrinityRail Maintenance Services (TRMS), a subsidiary of Trinity Industries, has revealed plans to build a railcar maintenance facility in the US state of Iowa.

The company has selected a 230-acre site in Shell Rock to build the facility, as well as initiated the process to purchase the land.

This site has been selected due to its proximity to the upper Midwest region and access to the Class-1 railroad network.

TRMS has earmarked an investment of nearly $60m for the facility, which is expected to employ more than 250 people once fully operational.

The Iowa facility will offer a variety of railcar services, including repairs and maintenance, inspections and testing, as well as coatings and cleaning services.

TrinityRail Group president and senior vice-president Eric Marchetto said: “TrinityRail Maintenance Services is proud to announce the development of a new facility that will provide railcar maintenance and services.
