PPIC Statewide Survey: Californians and Their Government

Key findings from the current survey:

• In California’s gubernatorial race, Democrats Gavin Newsom and Antonio Villaraigosa are in a virtual tie-but a quarter of likely voters are undecided. In the US Senate race, Dianne Feinstein leads fellow Democrat Kevin de Le-n by double digits.
• Likely voters are divided on repealing the recently passed gas tax and easing Proposition 13 tax limits on commercial properties.
• Californians see immigration as the top issue for state leaders to work on this year, and many are closely following news about sexual misconduct in the legislature.

The PPIC Statewide Survey delivers objective, advocacy-free information on the perceptions, opinions, and public policy preferences of California residents. PPIC invites input, comments, and suggestions from policy and public opinion experts and from its own advisory committee, but survey methods, questions, and content are determined solely by the PPIC survey team.
